Recently I’ve been experimenting with the idea of creating a 3D graphics based world of some sort, and compositing in images of real people, hopefully in such a way that it all looks more or less seamless.

The images below are some samples I’ve been working with, using a computer-based model as a placeholder in some cases. I’m hoping to get a chance soon to shoot the model pix that will be dropped in.

The 3D modeling and rendering was done in Cinema 4D, with texture editing in Photoshop.

Here’s a collection of images of the lovely Elena Marie, taken at the Cowtown location in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This is from this past November’s Arizona Shootout, a twice-yearly model shoot event which attracts models and photographers from around the country.

This was the second time I’ve attended the Arizona Shootout. I brought three models with me from Northern California, including Elena Marie.

Cowtown looks like an old western ghost town, but actually it just plays one on TV. And in movies, commercials, etc. It was originally built as a production set and a variety of movies, tv shows and commercials were filmed there before a fire destroyed much of the facility.
